Opt-In / Opt-Out for Problematic Victorian Attitudes
Renfield is from the Victorian era of ye olde 1891 and comes with all the racist/misogynist attitudes you might (or might not, idk your life) expect. Now, for the sake of my google history, the FBI guy who has to read that shit, and my own sanity, I plan to tread lightly with certain slurs.
To wit, Renfield uses three in canon, two in a singular, trance-induced sentence:
(Both directed to Dr. Seward, the latter being pre-hypnotism, and the former is during.)
Speaking of, he did work for Dr. Seward in a supposedly agreeable fashion before Dracula entered his life, so he can appear respectful when he chooses to be (fluctuating sanity aside). I have dabbled with writing him being silently and ragingly classist/racist over here towards Jekyll, using RDR2's "darkie" in place of... other phrases (again, trying to spare Google from worrying about me further). My go-to headcanon is that while he might think certain things, he won't always speak them aloud, especially in an effort to ingratiate himself in an unfamiliar location.
I can understand where even the slightest hint of any of the above might be rather triggering for some, especially during these turbulent times. Trying to be respectful OOC with an IC dickwad is a fine line to balance on, I know, but I'm making An Attempt.
Here's a nifty lil opt-in/out form:

"I've sinned here, Mother. I smoked opium with yellow devils and planted my seed into unworthy whores. ...Can you forgive me?"
"Leave my fucking brain alone, you cunt!"

Things to Avoid: No limits.
Questions? Comments? Concerns? Gertrude can get very verbally threatening when pushed, but would only respond with violence to physical attempts to hurt or intimidate. Yunlan's much safer to be Extremely Victorian at: he's just going to be annoyed and sweary.

Things to Avoid: Go for it
Questions? Comments? Concerns? He's only vaguely familiar with Earth racism, but he'll definitely catch on to the derogatory nature of it, and might, y'know, break his nose or put him through a wall or some other non-fatal thing depending on timing and context.

Things to Avoid: Bring it
Questions? Comments? Concerns? Nope! Just a lot of potential punches.

Journal Name:
Things to Avoid: None here!
Questions? Comments? Concerns? The only one would recognize the classism/racism straight off the bat would be Tesla, since he... lived through that same era and depending on how it's presented he might have Words for Renfield about it. (The other two would likely notice the derogatory intent but would have less immediate reaction to it.)

Things to Avoid: I'm fine with gross Victorian racism and sexism but please avoid the opium around me. IDK his canon or if it's a big deal there.
Questions? Comments? Concerns? nah, we good*

re: opium. It's literally that one line in canon, he's never actually showing partaking. i'll make sure to toss on a cw warning if it ever comes up!
